The Epoch Times published “Trump Files Recusal Motion for Judge Overseeing Hush Money Case,” reporting a defense filing made public on April 5, 2024. The article says the motion argued it was improper for Justice Merchan to preside “while his daughter, Loren Merchan, ‘benefits, financially and reputationally, from the manner in which this case is interfering’” with the campaign. The quoted clause is the filing as Epoch Times excerpted it. This site does not invent additional motion prose.
Epoch Times also recapped the August 2023 denial and the $35 donations. A companion piece, “Trump Team May Again Seek Recusal,” relayed New York Post reporting and a Steven Cheung statement. Cheung’s words are his. They are not a court finding.
